At the 2018 Design Symposium, some of the most creative architects, landscape architects, planners and design professionals in Hawaii and throughout the Northwest and Pacific Region will explore the theme: Building Voices: Livable Cities & Communities.

They will share with us how they Build the Voice of the Design Industry, through our primary symposium tracks:  Design in Coastal and Extreme Climatic Conditions, Healthy Citizens & Communities, Community Mobility & Housing for All.

Attendees will also meet and learn from industry product experts at the more than 300 Exhibitor Booths during the 19th Annual Pacific Building Trade Expo, that takes place in conjunction with the Design Symposium on Wednesday, Nov. 14.

AIA Northwest & Pacific Leadership Summit & Annual Meeting

The 2018 AIA Northwest and Pacific Region Annual Meeting & Leadership Summit at the AIA Honolulu Center for Architecture.

  • 8am-9am: AIA NW&PR Annual Meeting with a status report on the Region
    (Open to all AIA members, No charge, No RSVP needed)
  • 9am-5pm: Leadership Summit, an opportunity to share component issues and insights

The AIA Honolulu and AIA Hawaii State Council will be hosting the Leadership Summit.

We will bring the full meeting day to a close with a pau hana at the famed Liljestrand House in Honolulu.

19th Annual Pacific Building Trade Expo

A main component of the 2018 Design Symposium, is the all-day 19th Annual Pacific Building Trade Expo , the go-to event of the year for Hawaii’s building industry, at the Hawai‘i Convention Center.  Presented by Honblue and jointly produced by AIA Honolulu and CSI Honolulu this is the largest trade venue serving Hawaii’s building design professionals and contractors.

The Pacific Building Trade Expo, is a FREE event open to all members of the design & construction community, including architects and landscape architects, engineers, contractors as well as military and government agencies.

The AIA Honolulu’s Annual Design Awards is Hawaii’s oldest program of its type. Held annually since 1958, the awards is celebrating its 60th Anniversary this year!

It provides an avenue for member architects to be recognized by their peers for their effort and dedication to excellence in architecture. The competition culminates in a gala awards celebration to recognize the winners and all of our distinguished entrants, attracting more than 300 members and affiliates.
